  1. This helped me, I had Browser Safe Guard installed and after I uninstalled it the Trovi virus is gone. After having this aggravating page pop up for months I finally found a good page to help me get rid of it. Thank you.

        • Hi Rafael,

Have you followed the steps to repair the startup page, the homepage and the search engine of your Google Chrome?

          • Person…read down below where the thread talks about Search Protect. That’s how mine was listed. Use the date column on ur Uninstall window n it will narrow down to the items downloaded that day. Even had a fancy window warning pop up saying I’d be unprotected if I uninstalled. That’s how I knew it was Trovi. I was in Mozilla but it put itself on all three of my IP’s..nasty.

Has anyone tried their free download?

          • ends up costing 30 bucks – then only scans your computer and then you have to pay 300 to get it to remove the trovi – a big rip -off – NOT FREE at all

          • Thanks for the tip to look for Search Protect! It worked for me when I uninstalled it!!

    • Hi Kyle,

Could you please let me know what web browser do you use? I will try my best to help you with your issue.

        • Sorry Kay, we provide instruction only for Windows users.

I am sorry that I am still unfamiliar with Mac operating system and we are unable to provide any help.

  2. This was great. Everyone please note, the program was hiding under the name “Conduit search” in my add and remove programs. Once I deleted it from there, I’m back to normal

    • Thanks so much for your information.

Conduit is a kind of malicious program which should be removed immediately.
Sometimes, the different redirect pages are supported by the same malicious program, such as conduit, search protect by conduit. bpprotect etc…

      • Where do I find things Like Condiut and Search project? I’ve looked in applications folder and can’t find it

        • Hi Bridget,

          Google Chrome

          Hope it works for you!

    • Yes, the best way for me to find it was to look at the date installed… I knew which program was trying to get slick after noticing the date coincided with the annoying behavior – despite its clever name of “Search Protect,” obviously not accurate.

  3. finally I found it. It was not called trovi but Search Protect by Conduit. Thanks guys for sharing this in the comments. *thumbs up*

  4. i also got it as “search protect” by conduit.

once removed from the programs list, everything went back to normal, both in chrome and firefox

  5. hey I need help ASAP I cant find any of these things in control panel even in the search bar. im using windows 8 internet explorer
please help I only got this laptop the other week

    • Hi Joshua,

You can try this to repair your Internet Explorer.

      1. Go to Tools> Internet Options. In the Internet Options dialog box,
click on the Advanced tab, then click on the Reset button.

      2. In the Reset Internet Explorer settings section, check the Delete
personal settings box, and then click on Reset button.

After Internet Explorer finishes resetting, click on Close and then click
      OK.

  6. To delete the whole thing, you must go to the control panel, then click on deleting programs, then go to a file named something with “protect”, I don’t know the full name anymore, but the logo is a shield with an O or Q on it! delete that! then it has disapeared!

    • I searched my entire add or remove programs and there is nothing that I don’t recognise or has that logo but trovi still shows up. However I found that logo in that bottom right section of my toolbar but i can’t click on it

  7. For me, it was hiding under a program called SoftwareWatcher, so I’d check any seemingly safe sounding downloads you got to make sure it’s not piggybacking that.

  8. it’s asking me if I “want to allow the following program kt make changes to this computer” when I try download the cloud system booster? should I say yes?

  9. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST! I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AND MY LAPTOP WAS JUST SO SLOW WITH ADS POPPING UP LEFT RIGHT AND CENTRE! I DONT KNOW HOW THIS VIRUS GOT ON MY COMPUTER BUT WITH YOUR HELP IT IS GONE AND MY LAPTOP IS FASTER THAN EVER!
    GOD BLESS YOU!!! <3

    • This kind of browser hijacker always come together with free program. When you install a program, it may change your browser settings automatically. Please be carefully when you need to install a free program.

      :)

  10. I can not find any of the names you guys provided for this Trovi crap ! Please help I’m using firefox ! I checked my installed programs and none of the names I read in the comment came up?

    • Hi Brittany,

Could you please try to reset your browser settings by following instruction?

1 Open Firefox, click the Firefox button, go to the Help sub-menu, and select Troubleshooting Information.

2 Click the Reset Firefox button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.

3 Then click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens. Firefox will close and be reset.

  11. EASY SOLUTION!!
    Go to “Start”
    Go to “My Computer”
    Under “System Tasks”
    Click “Add or remove programs”
Click file name “Conduit” or “Search Protect”
    Click “Remove/Uninstall”
Let program uninstall, and should go away!

      • I knew, that my infection came with a EaseUs Partition Manager. Since that was the only software installed today, I uninstalled all the programs that were installed or modified today. So if you know when the infection happened, then sort the “Uninstall Programs” list by “date modified”. Then you have all the alternatives easy to find. Then regedit removal. So pretty simple to do manually if one has been fixing things with regedit manually since NT 3.51.

    • In the Windows control panel, you can find the add and remove functions to uninstall any unwanted program.

Please go to the Start Menu. Select Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Control Panel → Uninstall a Program.

    • Hi Tyler,

Did you find search protect by conduit on your computer as other users?
Please make sure to uninstall it.

By the way, please let me know what web browser do you use and still experience the same problem?

  12. Hey thanks for the help but I cannot remove trovi search from my add ons in internet explorer. I see it with the option to disable and remove. I did manage to disable it but not remove it because it does not let you. Can you please help?

    • Hi,

If you can not find the trovi add-on in Internet Explorer, please ignore the tips and manually to repair your web browser.

By the way, please also check carefully if there is any program named conduit, search protect, browser defender, software watcher etc.. in your control panel. If you find any, please make sure to uninstall them all.

      • How do you “manually repair the web browser”? I don’t think I saw that in the above article. I also don’t want to download another program to remove this program. I have the same problem as Jorge; I have uninstalled all the lingering Trovi programs, changed my web browser back to my chosen defaults, and disabled the trovi add-on in Manage Add-Ons BUT I cannot remove it. To be clearer I am still finding it through this path: Tools>Manage Add-Ons>Search Providers. I am using IE9. Thank you for any help you can provide.
This either came from one of my children looking at inappropriate sites or from trying to download a clock for my sleep mode screensaver. Grrrrr.

        • You can try the manual steps here to repair your IE 9:

          http://forums.anvisoft.com/viewtopic-45-14207-0.html

Or you can just reset your browser settings by following tips:

          1. Go to Tools> Internet Options. In the Internet Options dialog box, click on the Advanced tab, then click on the Reset button.

          2. In the Reset Internet Explorer settings section, check the Delete personal settings box, and then click on Reset button.

After Internet Explorer finishes resetting, click on Close and then click OK.

  13. finally figured out which file it was, looked like a start up with something along the lines of “software watcher” in it, deleted it and no more Trovi

    • Thanks a lot for sharing the information. The software watcher is also malicious related, and the trovi is supported by different malware program.

  14. I just got rid of it, be advised, it also “hides” under a name called “Search Protect” made by Client Connect LTD. This guide really helped, thanks!

  15. Help. im using windows 8, and trovi has infected my chrome browser.. but it seems alright with my IE. i couldnt find any traces of this anywhere mentioned here.. certainly not there in my add and remove programs…

    • Hi Henry,

If you can not find anything malicious in your control panel or browser extension, please manually remove the trovi.com homepage and startup page from your Google Chrome.

And you can use following tips to repair your IE:

  18. Help I have TROVI on windows xp it’s taken over GOOGLE as search engine, I can’t find it anywhere to delete it, it isn’t under any of the names suggested here.

  19. I’m using Google chrome and even though I’ve followed the steps every time I open a new tab Trovi comes up. I can’t download the things above because of another malicious file that was “bundled” with Trovi when i tried to download an innocent looking file. Along with Trovi and ODM, Gorillaprice has somehow also gotten onto my computer. I’m having a really hard time trying to delete all these files, and I can’t trust any malicious software removers because they all turn out to download MORE malicious software! I fear for my computer and privacy! I’m not sure how may days I have to uninstall this before it’s too late!

    • Oh, and I’d very much like to use only my mouse here to delete files, not an antivirus program. It seems as if I have a billion of those now that do nothing but slow down my computer!

      • Never mind, you can also delete the malicious entry manually. To do that, please go to
        HKCUSoftwareAppDataLowSoftwarePriceGong
        HKCUSoftwareConduitValueApps
        and delete them.

    • Hi Kitty,

This trovi malware add malicious registry entry and force the default web browser to open the page automatically.

Thus, please run Anvi Smart Defender to eliminate the malicious registry entry and then try the steps above to repair your Google Chrome homepage and new tab page once again.

  20. So I deleted it all of my computer and my browser is soooooo slow I can’t even go onto any link any help??

    • Please run Anvi Smart Defender quick or full scan to eliminate the left malicious files.

  21. Thank you so much! It wasn’t too hard to get rid of (along with it’s other installed items), but it proved to be a nasty little browser hijack. So, thank you again!

  22. this actually works. I just got rid of Trovi following these steps. Now all I need to do is erase any remaining traces as the instructions state. Thanks again antivisoft team :)

    • You are welcome. Thanks a lot for letting us know. We are always glad to offer help.

  23. I have located trovi but it will not uninstall. It’s publisher is client connect ltd. I am running windows 8.1 & I have selected uninstall & it hasn’t been removed. I have waited approx 30 min & nothing has happened but when I click on it again it says to wait till it’s finished. I have removed everything else but one file is not allowing me to delete it due to not having permission. I am the admin of the computer & this has me extremely frustrated. Please help if possible

    • Hi Arron, could you please try to uninstall it under safe mode with networking?

step 1 Reboot your computer to safe mode with networking.

      Windows XP and Windows 7

Press and hold the F8 key as computer starts but before Windows launches.

Note: If pressing and holding the F8 key only gets you a stuck key message, which means you failed to reach the Windows Advanced Options Menu, you should tap the F8 key continuously instead to get the screen.

      Windows 8

Restart into Advanced Startup options menu. Click Troubleshoot button>Advanced options. Under the Advanced option, click Startup settings. Click on the “Restart” button. Restart into Startup Settings screen. Press 5 to boot in Safe Mode with Networking.

Step 2 Uninstall trovi from control panel

  24. How do I know after removing all of these programs that the malicious software is really gone? Mine was downloaded in a driver upgrade called slim ware I believe. I just removed everything from that date and did the reset and it is gone … Or is it really? How do I know for sure

    • You can check the homepages of all browsers installed on your PC and notice whether there are trovi popups displayed.

    • This kind of adware may create lots of junk files which may eat up your system resources and result in slow computer performance. also, you may suffer lots of popup ads and redirections. There is a possibility that you are redirected to some malicious websites. therefore, you are recommended to get rid of it as soon as possible.

  25. Thank you! The program on my system was hidden under the file name search protect, would never have seen it if not for this :)

    • Hi WG26,

Before resetting the google chrome, you are highly recommended to get rid of suspicious program like Search Protect, Conduit search, SoftwareWatcher or something else. otherwise, it will still revive even after you reset your Chrome or reinstall the chrome.

  26. Trovi would open in new tab for me in chrome, after reading and installing & following this guide still no luck…that is until I went to the control panel and uninstalled search protect. No more nasty trovi, hope this helps someone else with my issue.

  27. Thank you for this helpful advice. Have been having such difficulty with my daughter’s laptop. She cannot search web at all…IE keeps going to trovi.com and then IE fails & forces quit. Will resetting IE 8 correct issue (after removing trovi & related files)??

  28. Hi, Lisa, you can try to rest your IE. And do not forget to check your IE’s shortcut target.

Close your Internet Explorer, right click on your IE shortcut and then click on the Properties option.
In the shortcut tab, remove http://trovi.com from the Target box if it is located, click on Apply and OK to save the change.

This operation will make sure the trovi won’t launch again.

  29. I couldn’t for the life of me what I downloaded last month, when I went to my browser, it had changed to Trovi. com search engine. I have google, msn and xfinity. I was going nuts trying to find this invader to no avail. I went to manage add-ons and Trovi wasn’t there.
I finally went to control panel an add and remove, this is what I found: Sear Protect and who it’s by Client Connect, LTD., a program I didn’t recognized. I got more info and this some how snuck into my system and changed everything on my homepage. I just delete and run a scan to make sure it is completely off my computer. My 3 homepage is back: MSN, xfinity and google. Trovi isn’t a malicious virus, but a nuisance in itself, a malware/spyware and slows down your computer to the point of being glitchy.

    • Hi, Faye, I am very glad to hear that you get rid of this Trovi hijacker.
Just be careful when you download and install something from the Internet!

  30. I downloaded everything and uninstalled conduit and everything and the trovi still pops up on my browser.. I uninstalled google and fixed everything on the homepage and still nothing.
