  1. I’ve done this and now even in Safe Mode Microsoft Word sometimes gives the “Microsoft Word has stopped responding” still appears. Now what

  2. OR You can start Task Manager, and go to processes and find the file you are working on…. right click, and set the priority…. momentarily, it will start working.. Well, it works for me!

  3. My Word 2010 with Win7 has stopped responding – i can open a document but not save orprint or anything else- and I have tried each reported solution one by one but nothing has helped. Problem started recently after a windows update.I am now desperate as the application is vital for my work.

  4. My issue was that I could not open a second instance of word without both “Not responding”. It turned out to be an Adobe add-in. The starting in safe mode helped a lot in identifying the problem (THANKS!!)

    To disable add-ins.
    Open word
Click File, options, add-ins, then double click on the add-in in questions and disable it.

    • Should have mentioned…
This also corrected a problem with not being able to open a blank Word document with out a “Word not responding” error.

Also, I have Adobe Professional installed on my computer, not just the free reader.
